My Introduction -Part 1

Hi my dear reader,

This is my first blog post after trying my hands on writing way back in 2007! Long time it has been and I can say that I have become a better person and professional still learning and growing with some amazing humans around me. I would love to share about me in these first few posts with you all.

Hi, my name is Akanksha Modi, I am a happy person who loves learning new things, apply them and teach them to everyone else who is willing to learn. I am an urban planner and architect by my professional training who has developed herself in an Educator, sustainability practitioner, an avid gardener, an un-learner using photography as a tool to enhance it all that I love doing and sharing.

I belong to a modest family who lived half of her life in the extreme western region of Rajasthan, a small town of Bikaner with my 2 siblings, parents and friends. As someone from a small town and not many options for Education in 1990’s I studied in small school called Air Force School a so called English Medium school and some awesome friends followed by another small school located at the outskirts of Bikaner named- Girdhar Das Mundhra Bal Bharti Secondary school and Maharani Girls Senior Secondary School. My father always believed in schooling that is based on student rather than the parents’ financial abilities.

You must wonder why I am mentioning these schools here, the reason why I am sharing the names here is because I am who I am as a human is due to these schools and people with whom I grew up and the cultural fabric I grew up within. I would love to talk about some of these aspects in future, however I will continue with my Education again as we still do judge someone worth following or not by their Education. So, I would probably create my credibility based on my Educational and professional background and create a listening for my thoughts here. As I shifted from an all-English school to a Hindi medium school, it was a little challenging at first to select National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu for my Bachelors of Architecture education. However, one thing that I learnt till now was to be always open for new opportunities, taken on new things and learn something new.
